Bloody Plastic

Bloody Plastic

As if the idea of Terminators isn’t scary enough we are now finding ways for them to self-heal. Nancy Sottos, an engineer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has created a new plastic that “bleeds” when it is cut or cracks and then heals itself. The plastic is based on our own body’s ability to heal itself. Our bodies are laced with veins, capillaries and other fun stuff that deliver whatever is needed to the site of the injury...

Yeti Hair Passes DNA Testing

Yeti Hair Passes DNA Testing

Yeti hairs, similar to the hairs being collected above, were determined through DNA testing to be neither animal nor human.

Several DNA tests performed on a hair found may prove that the Abominable Snowman exists. The hair was supposedly found in Siberia’s Azasskaya Cave by Doctor Igor Birtsev, who is a known advocate of the existence of Yetis. There were three DNA tests performed on the hair through several parts of the world, which show that it is from a human-like creature but it is not human nor is it monkey. It is closer to being related to that of...

“Aww, Dad, Can I PLEASE Get Biochipped?”

A Sarfus image of a biochip

by Timothy Chilman email: timothychilman@yahoo.com (An earlier post took a contrary view. A little diversity of opinion is no bad thing.) Malls and Stores Are Tracking You

Malls and Stores Are Tracking You

The Short Pump Town Center is one of many businesses that want to track you.

On Black Friday two malls started tracking their customers secretly by cell phone. The tracking system, known as FootPath, follows the movements of shoppers by logging cellphone location data and does not allow shoppers to opt out. Following public outcry against this invasion of privacy, the malls have stopped tracking visitors, for now at least. The malls, California’s Promenade Temecula and Virginia’s Short Pump Town Center, have plans to continue the program in the future. Home Depot and JCPenny are...
